U.S. Official Meets with Guyanese Partners in Justice, Security Sectors

Since 2011, the United States invested over 3 million USD to strengthen Guyana’ security and has trained over 500 Guyanese in the fields of financial intelligence, law enforcement, port security, and drug prevention.  Program Advisor Rachel Cook from the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at the U.S. State Department visited Guyana December 2 –3 and held meetings with partners at the Court of Appeals, the Guyana Police Force, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and the Justice Education Society.   Cook’s visit reinforced U.S. commitment to furthering security cooperation with Guyana.
