As part of the U.S. commitment to bolster the abilities of Guyana’s security forces to improve citizen security, Deputy Chief of Mission Mark Cullinane recently presented radio communication equipment valued at over $700,000 USD to the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), as part of the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative. The grant provided extensive training for the equipment that included radio transmitters, antennas, and high-power amplifiers, all intended to improve the GDF maritime counter-piracy and drug interdiction capabilities. Colonel Trevor Bowman, GDF Inspector General, accepted the equipment donation on behalf of the GDF.
