The U.S. Embassy in collaboration with the Guyana Council of Organizations for Persons with Disabilities (GCOPD) facilitated a job preparation training for Persons with Disabilities. The virtual nine-week training provided participants with the practical knowledge and resources to be proactive in their job search and be successful in acquiring jobs. Ambassador Lynch said of the training, “we are committed to promoting the role of persons with disabilities in creating a prosperous Guyana. This training is part of our ongoing partnership with talented and capable individuals who simply want the same opportunities as everyone else.”
During the training, nineteen participants were exposed to resumé writing, interview preparation, networking, and examining their strengths and skill sets to realize their true potential as afforded under the Guyana Disability Act of 2010. The course curriculum will be used for future trainings in collaboration with GCOPD and other interested stakeholders.
The program is part of the U.S. Embassy’s ongoing work to encourage prosperity for all Guyanese.
