United States Security Cooperation Office (USSCO) Guyana is a joint organization representing the Commander, United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM). Assigned officers function as military consultants to the Guyana Defence Force at the Chief of Staff and Force Staff levels. They direct United States military efforts with respect to Defense International Security Assistance Management programs and designated Geographic Combatant Commander effects-based operational initiatives. They perform operational and logistics functions as directed by legislation, executive orders, and policy relating to the administration of foreign military sales, security assistance, and all theater security cooperation engagement activities. The Commander, USSCO, serves as the United States Defense Representative (USDR) to Guyana.
