Georgetown – In line with the U.S. Embassy commitment to help build capacity in remote areas and strengthen border security, Ambassador Lynch made a trip to Region Nine and met with the Regional Chairman, the Regional Police, a local school, and made a short visit to the Brazil side of the border to meet with Immigration officials and the Brazilian consulate. “The people of Lethem and outlining communities were extraordinarily warm and friendly. What a beautiful part of Guyana! It was great to meet local and regional leadership to hear about both the challenges and opportunities in the region. And, it was wonderful to see the enthusiasm of the U.S. Peace Corps hard at work in the Rupununi”, said the Ambassador.
